Brit Nat in Wales Watch Shame

A couple of days ago I decided to do a Google search on “The Llanelli Journal” to find out how much coverage this blog is getting. This kind of action could be misconstrued as an ego trip, and you’d probably be right to a degree.
One of the results that came up was this, a comment by Alan in Dyfed on the British Nationalists in Wales Watch blog.
I am an active member of the University of Bristol Union and this comment submitted to this website reminded me of a protest that the Union was going to participate in when Nick Griffin of the BNP was due to speak at the University of Bath. There were many concerned about being targeted by Redwatch if they attended the protest and obviously the Union could not offer any guarantee otherwise.
Fortunately, the University of Bath was forced to call off the talk, but blogs and websites such as ‘British Nationalists in Wales Watch’ set a dangerous precedent. Although I do not believe that the Brit Nat Watch blog intends to threaten or endanger people, nobody should not be singled out on the basis of their beliefs, political or otherwise.
I am slightly disturbed to learn that Alan in Dyfed would post such a comment, even though he is a famed for his Welsh Nationalist views in the Welsh political blogosphere.
I support an union within Britain because it is, in my opinion, in the best interests of Wales. If I ever believe that independence would be the best option for Wales, I shall support the cause. I can hardly be accused of being a Brit Nat on that basis.
